Sara G. Neill to present at April 24 ABA Taxation Section “An Ethics Challenge: Identifying and Addressing Conflicts of Interest in Tax Controversies” CLE
Sara G. Neill will participate in a panel that will identify conflicts of interest that arise in counseling clients, audits, administrative appeals, tax litigation and collections. The panelists will address the types of conflicts can be waived, how to obtain and document a waiver and the IRS position on and response to conflicts in various situations. In discussing various hypotheticals, the panelists will address the applicable Model Rules of Professional Conduct, the provisions of Circular 230, the U.S. Tax Court rules addressing conflicts of interest and the relevant parts of the Internal Revenue Manual.
