Sara G. Neill to speak on “Navigating the Ethical Minefield and Keeping Your C.P.A. License”

SGNSara G. Neill will be a guest speaker in “Navigating the Ethical Minefield and Keeping Your C.P.A. License,” a panel CPE hosted by the Missouri Society of Certified Public Accountants. This CPE will provide practical advice for avoiding ethical concerns in tax practices and properly handling them when they arise. Additional guest speakers include Sanford J. Boxerman, Laura E. Al-Shathir and Michelle Feit Schwerin.

Overview by MSCPA:

Earlier this year, a CPA was sanctioned after it was determined that this individual was representing taxpayers despite a conflict of interest. In September 2013, the IRS Office Of Professional Responsibility obtained a 5-year disbarment of a CPA for violating Circular 230. This two-hour CPE will focus on actual and hypothetical ethical dilemmas that CPAs unintentionally find themselves in and will discuss how these situations could have been avoided. The speakers, lawyers who focus their practices in the areas of criminal and civil tax controversy, intend that the CPE will be more practical than theoretical, and will provide guidance based upon their experiences in representing accountants with ethical problems, as well as representing taxpayers whose accountants had ethical problems which could have been avoided.
