Sara G. Neill appointed by The Missouri Bar Board of Governors to study commission on state tax policy
The Missouri Bar Board of Governors has appointed Sara G. Neill, a shareholder at the law firm Capes, Sokol, Goodman & Sarachan, P.C., to the study commission on state tax policy, pursuant to section 136.450.1 (11) of the Revised Statues of Missouri.
The commission is charged with making a detailed study of Missouri tax structure, including sources of tax revenue, the impact of taxes, collection procedures, regulations and other factors. The commission will be asked to develop improvements that could be made to Missouri tax law to simplify the code, modernize the tax system, improve economic development, improve compliance and reduce administrative costs. The commission is required to submit a report and recommendations for legal and administrative changes along with any proposed legislation by December 31, 2016.
Neill is chair of the Capes, Sokol’s civil and criminal tax controversy and litigation practice group. With a focus on both civil and criminal tax controversies, she has given numerous presentations on tax-related topics and published related articles. Neill represents clients through all stages of criminal tax investigations and litigation and handles sensitive IRS audits and appeals.
