Experience at Work
Calvin joined Capes Sokol as an associate after obtaining his LL.M. in Tax Law. He represents clients in civil and criminal tax disputes and litigation involving the Internal Revenue Service, Department of Justice and Missouri Department of Revenue. Calvin handles audits, administrative appeals, voluntary disclosures, significant tax collection matters, trust fund penalty investigations, claims for refund and innocent spouse relief, and criminal tax investigations. Calvin also represents clients in other white-collar criminal matters involving allegations of financial fraud.
While in law school, Calvin clerked for a regional law firm and gained experience in all stages of criminal and civil litigation. He was hired on as a graduate teaching assistant for an undergraduate business law course at the University of Missouri Trulaske College of Business.
Prior to law school, Calvin enjoyed internships with two members of Congress. He routinely assisted them with bill research and helped constituents navigate government bureaucracy.
