Austin C. Davis

Law Clerk

“A change is brought about because ordinary people do extraordinary things.” -President Barack Obama

Experience at Work

Austin joined the firm as a member of Capes Sokol’s 2020 Summer Associate class. Austin works primarily on litigation matters involving product liability. In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, Austin worked closely with other attorneys to explore liability for insurance companies who have denied coverage to business owners for losses caused by government closures.

As a student at the University of Missouri School of Law, Austin gained trial experience in the Criminal Prosecution Clinic, where he argued on behalf of the state in a preliminary hearing. He currently serves as the Layout & Designer Editor for the University of Missouri School of Law’s Journal of Dispute Resolution. In addition, Austin is a business writing teaching assistant at the University of Missouri’s Trulaske College of Business.

In the Community

Austin served as an intern for Heart of Missouri CASA, a non-profit organization that pairs court appointed advocates with abused and neglected children involved in court proceedings. He is an active member of the law school community, regularly attending volunteer events that help the community in and around the Columbia, Missouri, area.

As a Summer Associate, Austin volunteered at the Urban League of Metropolitan St. Louis’ COVID-19 Emergency Relief Food Drive. The Urban League’s weekly drive-through food distribution efforts served over 60,000 families in the metropolitan area and raised more than $3.5 million.
