Tax Controversy & White Collar Criminal Defense Litigator
Capes Sokol is looking for an Associate with 1-4 years of experience to work in our Tax Controversy Litigation and White Collar Criminal Defense Departments. A tax background is preferred but we will consider a strong applicant who has interest in and willingness to learn tax law and procedure.
This is a litigation-focused position in which the attorney is expected to exercise strong advocacy skills. The position initially will consist largely, but not entirely, of legal research and writing. The attorney will draft internal legal memoranda as well as briefs, and other documents for filing with federal courts and federal agencies including the Internal Revenue Service. This position will offer the attorney immediate client contact and responsibility, and the attorney can expect to interact directly with prosecutors, investigators, agents and attorneys of the Dept of Justice, IRS, other federal agencies, state taxing agencies and state regulatory bodies. The attorney will develop litigation skills through practice in federal district courts and the United States Tax Court. As the attorney gains additional experience, the attorney can anticipate taking on increasing amounts of responsibilities in litigation matters.

Forensic Accountant/Paralegal
If you have 5+ years of experience as a CPA, IRS Enrolled Agent (or would be willing to become an Enrolled Agent) or have relevant experience in a government agency, Capes Sokol’s Tax Controversy Department has an exciting opportunity for you!
This position will consist of forensic accounting and analysis, client advocacy before the IRS Collection, Examination and Criminal Investigations Divisions, and some paralegal tasks. We will look to this professional to generate spreadsheets and reports based on bank statements and other financial records, assist in analyzing tax issues and critically review reports of IRS agents, state taxing authority agents , and other law enforcement agencies. The professional will assist with responses to Government inquiries including Information Document Requests, Summonses and Subpoenas, and be a critical member of a team who represent clients with serious tax problems.
Business & Real Estate Associate

Legal Assistant
Capes Sokol office is looking for an experienced litigation legal assistant. The successful candidate will have at least 3 years of litigation experience, is self-motivated and driven to succeed.
Our position will allow you to work independently and with our team, accept increasing responsibility and utilize all of your skills. You will be responsible for drafting and finalizing correspondence and discovery, court filings, docketing and calendaring, opening new client/matter filings, reimbursements and time entry. Qualified Candidates will be well-versed in all aspects of litigation support in order to support a busy team of attorneys. Strong Microsoft Office skills are required, as well as good organizational skills and time management.
