Capes Sokol Welcomes Three New Attorneys to the Firm
Capes Sokol is pleased to announce that Michael W. Cromwell, Katherine D. Landfried, and Alexandra L. Hemphill have joined the firm.
Cromwell and Landfried are members of the firm’s expanding Litigation practice group and Hemphill is a member of the firm’s experienced Business and Real Estate practice group. In addition to the three new attorneys, Rita M. Marsh and Siobhan M. Murphy have joined the firm as Litigation paralegals.

About the Attorneys
Michael W. Cromwell joins as an Associate in the Litigation practice group, where he will work with clients to litigate complex, multi-party, civil litigation matters including toxic tort and environmental matters, corporate governance disputes, and personal injury cases. Cromwell has developed a niche understanding and appreciation for issues that arise in the manufacture, distribution and sale of agricultural and manufactured products.
Prior to joining Capes Sokol, Cromwell spent six years with a large Southeast-based law firm where he focused on similar matters. Cromwell received his law degree from the University Of Oklahoma College Of Law and his Bachelor of Business Administration in International Business and Economics from the University of Oklahoma.
Katherine D. Landfried joins as an Associate in the Litigation practice group, where she will work on a variety of litigation matters including business disputes, toxic tort, wrongful death, and employment discrimination. Prior to joining the firm full-time, Landfried worked for Capes Sokol as a Summer Associate and Law Clerk from 2016-2017.
She graduated magna cum laude from Saint Louis University School of Law in 2017 and received her Bachelor of Arts in Sociology – Criminal Justice at McKendree University. During law school, Landfried served as the Editor-in-Chief of the Saint Louis University Public Law Review and as President of the Criminal Law Society. Prior to attending law school, Landfried gained valuable work experience at a prosecutor’s office, a criminal defense firm, and as a civilian police aide in a jail.
Alexandra L. Hemphill joins as an Associate in the Business and Real Estate practice group, where she will work on residential and commercial zoning compliance, complex commercial real estate transactions, and selection and formation of business entities. Hemphill joined Capes Sokol as a Summer Associate in 2016 and continued working with the firm as a Law Clerk throughout her final year of law school.
Hemphill received her law degree from Washington University School of Law, where she was a clinician in the Low Income Taxpayer Clinic and the Chief Primary Editor of the Washington University Global Studies Law Review. She received her Bachelor of Arts in English Literature and Language, and her Bachelor in Business Administration with an emphasis in Finance at the University of Missouri – Kansas City, summa cum laude.
