Jeanne M. Schaller’s work as a forensic accountant at Capes, Sokol, Goodman & Sarachan, P.C. is deeply influenced by her 28 years in financial fraud investigation for the federal government. She is a former U.S. Department of Treasury Special Agent in the Criminal Investigation Division of the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), and has worked closely with the U.S. Attorney’s Office, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the U.S. Postal Inspection Service and other federal agencies.
Since joining Capes Sokol in 2006, she has focused on representing clients working with firm attorneys in the following practice groups:
- Criminal & Civil Tax Controversies
- White Collar Criminal Defense & Investigations
She also assists clients with investment funds tracking for victims of unscrupulous investment and commodity brokers.
Over the course of nearly three decades, Mrs. Schaller led investigations of various types of criminal fraud, including:
- Tax evasion
- Money laundering
- Bank fraud
- Mail fraud
- Corporate embezzlement
She offers special expertise in federal tax law and vast experience in analyzing financial documents, investigative techniques, conducting interviews with witnesses and targets, compiling detailed investigative reports, preparing documentation for trial and federal court rules and procedures. She also has provided grand jury and trial testimony in federal court.
Mrs. Schaller supports numerous community organizations and events, including the Chaminade College Preparatory Scholarship Fund and the St. Joseph’s Academy annual auction, in addition to tutoring students and writing grant requests for Loyola Academy, a Jesuit institution educating under-privileged middle school boys located in Midtown St. Louis.
